We collect “excess” materials that would otherwise go to waste & repurpose them to create something beautiful & authentic.

Your History

I started working in the corporate sector as soon as I did my MBA and while working I was handling the department of corporate social responsibility (CSR) which made me interact with various NGO’s, that’s when I realized that how our environment is exploited and everyone is talking about conserving the environment but no one is really want to implement changes in their lifestyle. So with this knowledge I started doing some research and then I came across sustainable lifestyle, that’s when I decide I wanted to do something in this field and even enterprise it because I will make it my living.

I quit my corporate job and took a bold decision of starting my own company names The Abhinaya store where I would only use waste fabrics to make useful stuff out of them like bags, handicraft items etc. I decided to resource the waste fabrics from the tailors all over Bombay which was then used to make bags and all other types of things. Sustainable products are those products that provide environmental, social and economic benefits while protecting public health and environment over their whole life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials until the final disposal and that is what I make sure while manufacturing each and every product. I had my fair share of struggle in searching clients and explaining them that every product I make looks different because it is handmade so you can never get an exact copy and the price range of it because making a sustainable product are not at all cheap!

It’s been a while now into this business and I am proud to say that each day of my life I do something which is contributing in protecting our environment. To run this business you need staff like you need tailors so I decided that why not help underprivileged women, so all of the people who work for me are underprivileged women from the slums of Bombay and this is what really make me joyful about my business because I am saving the environment while running someone’s household!
